Public Education is available in the Philippines...but it is not free. Each family must also absorb annual registration fees plus the cost of supplies, uniforms (a requirement in the Philippines) and transportation. These costs are far beyond the families who are counted among the “poorest of the poor.”
Yunik Krafts is a livelihood project which provides these families with an opportunity
to raise funds specifically for the education of their children. All of the net
proceeds are utilized for the direct costs of education, and therefore makes the
seemingly impossible dream of an education - a reality!
If you are interested in actively sponsoring a student in the Philippines, please go to www.dawnforthepoor.org and learn how you can change the life of a child who is trapped by poverty.
